DIRECTOR'S BIO
Mitchell Vincent Slan was born and raised with an undying love for the horror genre. A true horror geek at heart, Mitchell has been writing and directing horror films for the last 3 years and has begun to find his place in the horror community. His films "Balloon" and "7" have been dominating the film festival circuit over the last two years. He was recently brought on to direct the feature film, "Black- Eyed Kids" written by Dale Deacon, set to begin principal photography in February 2018.
Director's Statement
"Balloon" is a story about trauma and where it comes from. What stems from our trauma is always more haunting than the thing we relate it to. We rationalize our fears so therefore we are the only ones that can conquer them. Sometimes... seeking help can only make things worse.
"Balloon" was made with only practical effects in honor of the 70's and 80's horror flicks.
"Balloon" is my attempt to introduce another horror villain like Freddy, Jason, and Michael. We desperately lack that iconic kind of character and this film is my entry into that comeback.
The score was composed entirely from balloons. Having a Dj background, I wanted the score to be made from that perspective; something untraditional.
Inspired by the works of Michael Doughtery
(Trick r Treat/Krampus), I wanted to make a horror film that was colorful as well as visually stunning.
Produced by Andrew Wofford, Xavier Price, Mitchell slan and costantino ciminiello
